Typical meals of sweden

Kottbullar

meatballs made with a mixture of grated or minced onion, beef, pork, egg and milk; meatballs are fried in lard. In some parts of the country served accompanied by a thick meat sauce, in others with mashed potatoes and scrambled cranberries in sugar.



Kroppkakor

balls stuffed potatoes. The filling varies by region. It can be pork and onions, or mushrooms, or bacon. In all cases is the same cooking: boiling water passed through. Accompanied with cranberries, or mustard, or with melted butter. In the north are called palt or kams.

Raggmunk

It is a kind of pancake made of potatoes, fried in butter. Served with grilled bacon and cranberries.

Strömmingslådor

Typical Swedish food dishes made of Baltic herring. Herring is prepared in different ways (with tomato sauce, butter, anchovies and parsley. It is what they call "herring table."

Smörgåstårta

kind of salt cake, armed layered with ham, shrimp, eggs, tuna. It is usually served at celebrations.

The Swedes appreciate much cheese and bread. They have large varieties of both. With regard to cheese prefer hard and almost all houses some variety is served at breakfast, served with toasted bread or rye bread.
